Last week I talked about Thoughts Become Things.  Well first cousin to that for me is:  Shift Your Perspective and You Change Your World.  Sounds a bit … over the top?  Not for me.  These last six months have been a whirlwind of activity … well, actually these last 20 years have been a whirlwind of activity.

I open my company in my early 30’s with two young children and a one hour commute each way.  The company expanded twice within the first 7 years.  I bought out my partner.  Things start to sail and I grew the team (oh there will be some blogs about that – let’s just say I learned how to build staff the hard way).  The economy tanks and I fight for survival.  That fight leads to a repositioning, a rebranding and multi-location expansion.

My calendar during that “fight for survival phase” was pretty frightening and I recently realized, my calendar has returned to that post-tank era level of never a free moment.  And, do the math, I am now the north side of 50.  I get busy, I get weary, I get resentful of being busy, or maybe I wear it like a badge of honor.

Where does that get me?   So this time around I’m taking a different approach.  Here’s my new perspective:  These are problems of abundance and I will joyfully accept all the opportunities in front of me.  Seriously, how lucky am I that I have so many opportunities that my calendar is busting at the seams?  People want to explore collaborative opportunities with us and in turn we are able to make so many connections for our growing community.

Hey wait a minute … maybe by shifting my perspective I can change THE world.  Now we’re cooking.  Stay tuned :-)
